Cathy Tran
Cathy Tran is the founding owner of Expert Tutoring Near Me. She is a highly qualified and credentialed tutor in Language, Essay Writing, Spelling, Critical Reading, Math, Science, Study Skills, and Test Prep. Cathy is an expert in her field and is capable of tutoring any student, however she feels most passionately about using her skills to tutor children with learning disabilities and other challenges that may impede the pace of their academic success. She has been a tutor for over a decade and previously owned a successful tutoring center in Huntington Beach, before transitioning back into private tutoring.
She received her B.A. in Psychology from Ashford University in San Diego, CA, where she majored in Applied Behavioral Studies. She also has an A.D. in Human Services from Cypress College in Cypress, CA. Additionally, she has two vocational skill certificates for Advanced and Basic Family Studies, along with a skill certificate in Vocational Gerontology. Cathy also has over twenty years of experience working in Social Services and Student Counsel to ensure compassionate care for clients in achieving self- sufficiency and personal growth.
One of her greatest and strongest traits is her demonstrated empathy and dedication to help others, especially children. As a mother herself, she truly understands that children need adults who they can feel comfortable with to support and encourage them in all aspects of life, including in education.
What I enjoy, and the reason that I love what I do, is my ability to help gifted kids with special needs. Students with learning disabilities are where my heart is. I am a certified teacher and I will guarantee your student’s success.

Kristen Ruggles
Kristen Ruggles works collaboratively with Cathy Tran to provide an immersive and comprehensive tutoring experience that is personalized and tailored for each individual student. By working collaboratively they are able to share their collective educational backgrounds in order to meet any and all needs that your student may have.
Parents: Could your student benefit from improving their essay writing skills and techniques? If so, Kristen provides writing tutoring services for students that will help them to succeed when writing essays, papers, applications, and cover letters.
Kristen has over three years of private tutoring experience, mostly working with high school students. She received her B.A. in English Literature with honors from the University of Colorado, and her J.D. from Loyola Law School, where she specialized in working with teenagers involved in the Juvenile Justice System. Kristen has a variety of professional writing experience, including working as legal writer and as a newspaper reporter. She also has over a decade of experience working as an audio transcriptionist/editor in post-production services. Her services include proofreading, editing, providing notes and critiques, teaching students to be organized and structured in their writing, and offering helpful writing tips and tricks.
Writing is a practical skill that will help your student to flourish throughout their lives. A good writer will always stand out, whether it is in school, on an application, or at work. Danh Tran
As a graduate with a master's degree in English from CSUF, Danh believes in living a literary life. He is an avid reader and enjoys stories that push the boundaries and limitations of language. Danh strongly believes that everyone has a unique story worthy of sharing, and what keeps him turning pages are books that celebrate the individual and their singular experiences. Although Danh has an extensive collection of books (he plans to own over 1,000 so he can officially claim a personal library), he admits to having a healthy anxiety about perfecting the craft of writing.
Danh would love to become an accomplished writer someday—but for now, he simply enjoys writing creatively when he feels the compulsion of the pen. Some would describe his creative pieces as lyrical, experimental, and thought-provoking.
There is a quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson, the famous author, that says: "Speak what you think now in hard words, and tomorrow speak what tomorrow thinks in hard words again, though it contradict everything you said today." Danh thinks this quote captures a grand lesson about living one's life with presence, authenticity, and courage. He looks forward to the opportunity to be a living example of Emerson's wisdom for his students.

Hello. My name is Paul Nguyen. As an immigrant who has been in the U.S. for about nine years, used to have obstacles with language barriers and culture. However, with all my hard work and effort, I finally got a Bachelor in Mathematics at California State University of Long Beach (CSULB). After volunteering as a Peer Tutor in my high school, I experienced many students are still struggling to understand math. Because of that, I decided to become a Math professor so that I could help those students gain their interest in Math and understand how to solve Math problems easier. To master more skills in Math, I am currently pursuing a Master of Science in Mathematics. Teaching is my passion and I hope that with all of my effort, students will have the opportunity to improve their math skills and be able to solve problems better.
